Records of the Connecticut Valley Hospital collected by Keith Hook primarily during his tenure on the hospital's Board of Trustees. Hook was appointed to the board in 1957 by Connecticut Governor Abraham Ribicoff. In 1962 Hook was elected Vice-Chairman of the board. He was elected Chairman in 1967 and held that position until leaving the board in 1971. The collection includes historical data regarding the hospital, newspaper clippings concerning the hospital and mental health in general, correspondence, meeting minutes, and a variety of reports. Hook was involved with the construction of the children's unit, and the collection contains blueprints for the building. Other issues documented within the collection are the transfer of 37 acres of land to Middlesex Community College and a proposal by the City of Middletown to build a golf course on the hospital's property. Newspaper clippings relate some of the hospital's issues including the firing of a superintendent and a court case with an injured employee. Collection also includes two photos and two coins.
